Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Herbal Roots uses cookies and similar technologies on herbalrootsshop.com. It applies to visitors across all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For broader privacy practices, see our Privacy Policy.
Practical cookie notice for a U.S. shop — not legal advice. Update this page if you add advertising or analytics tools.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels. We use “cookies” to refer to these technologies collectively.
2. How we use cookies
We group cookies into these categories:
- Strictly necessary: Required for the site to work—security, load balancing, cart contents, admin session after login, and remembering cookie preferences. These do not require consent under most U.S. frameworks, though we still disclose them.
- Preferences: Remember choices such as cookie banner responses.
- Analytics (if enabled): Help us understand traffic and improve the site. We only set non-essential analytics cookies if you accept them (or if we later enable a tool and you consent).
- Marketing (if enabled): Used for advertising measurement or retargeting. We do not currently run third-party ad networks by default; if we add them, we will update this policy and request consent where required.
3. Cookies & storage we use today
| Name / type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| hr_admin_session | Staff admin authentication | Session / limited days |
| herbal-roots-cart-v2 | Shopping cart (local storage) | Until cleared |
| hr_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preference | Up to 1 year |
| Hosting / CDN | Our host (e.g. Vercel) may set technical cookies for security and performance | Varies |
| Payment provider | When checkout is enabled, the processor (e.g. Stripe) may set cookies on its domain for fraud prevention and checkout | Per provider |
4. Your choices (all U.S. states)
- Cookie banner: On first visit you can Accept non-essential cookies or use Essential only. You can change your mind by clearing site data or contacting us.
- Browser controls: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may break cart or login.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): Where state law requires us to honor opt-out preference signals for sale/share of personal information, we will treat a recognized GPC signal as an opt-out of sale/share for that browser, when those activities apply.
- Do Not Track: There is no single industry standard for DNT; we describe practices here and in the Privacy Policy instead.
- State privacy rights: California and other states may give you rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of certain processing. See the Privacy Policy section on U.S. state privacy rights (covering residents of all 50 states and D.C. under applicable law).
5. Third parties
Third parties (hosting, payments, email, analytics if enabled) may set their own cookies when you interact with their services. Their use is governed by their policies. We encourage you to review them.
6. Children
We do not knowingly use cookies to collect personal information from children under 13 (or a higher age where required).
7. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices change. The “Last updated” date will reflect the latest version.
8. Contact
Cookie or privacy questions: contact us via the email on this site with “Cookie Policy” in the subject line.
